You've seen so many articles time and time again about how bloggers make anywhere from $5-$100,000 a month. Your natural curiosity has kicked in. The skeptical side of you has died down because you realized these are normal people that found creative solutions to pay off their debts, fire their horrible boss, help their aging parents out financially and the list goes on.

Hey if everyone else can do it, why can't it be you!? Well, look no further friend because here's a step by step guide to getting it done (if you already know what you want you can click below and start with #3).

1 ) What Do I Blog About?

This is the fun part about blogging. Writing about whatever you want to talk about! Don't overthink this. What is something that you know:

A) know a lot about (Think about what you naturally research on your time off. That topic that you do for free and have been doing for free)

B) Are willing to talk about for a long time (You know that subject that your friends/family members get annoyed with hearing you talk about)

C) There's a lot to say about it (You don't want to pick something too specific like cooking your favorite recipe. That's great that you know how to do that but you'd honestly only have 1 article. Maybe choose a blog about recipes in general.)

D) Chose something that solves a problem for someone else (You'll come to find really quick that people don't want to hear about you. Think about it, did you come to this article because you wanted to hear about me and my blog or how you can create your blog? It's funny how we all think about number 1, right? Don't feel bad, it's human nature.

2 ) Choose Your Blogging Platform

There are so many different options to chose from. A free blogging platform (like wordpress.com" is not one of them. I REPEAT, A FREE BLOGGING PLATFORM IS NOT ONE OF THEM. Why? Because it's significantly harder to make any source of income. Just trust me on this one. The hosted blogging platform is not the way to go.

Hosted=They own the rights. They control what ads go on the site (that you don't make money off of). They decide what designs go on the site. Are you picking up what I'm putting down? (Ex: Blogger, wordpress {dot} com, Blogspot, etc.)

Self Hosted= You own the rights. You control what ads go on your site (that you do make money off of). You decide what designs go on the site.

2 ) Find a Host

No, I don't mean hire someone at a restaurant (I know all of these new terms are overwhelming but it's okay don't get discouraged, just stay with me for a second). This just means finding a space for your site. This allows others to find your articles from your expert knowledge! Yep, you read that right. You are the expert!

What do I recommend?

Siteground all the way baby! (Just an FYI I do make an affiliate sale if you do purchase it from me but I could have chosen any other one and still would have made money but I chose this one). After doing some research, I chose Siteground due to:

A) It's one of the cheapest more cost-effective options out there.  You want this especially if you're wanting to start this blog to try to get out of massive debt make money.

B) They have the best customer support. You really don't want some fancy-pants ticketing system that will get back to you when they feel like it. If you can't figure something out you want to talk to someone right then and there so you don't throw your computer down a flight of stairs!

C) It's super flexible. You can customize the mess out of this! Albeit, a little frustrating to for a nontechie but once you get the hang of it, you're golden. If I can do it, anybody can do it!

3) Select A Plan

Given the fact that you're on a personal finance site, this all comes down to what you can afford at the time. If money is tighter than spandex on a 350-pound woman tight, then pick the cheaper option. You can always go back and add on later.

4) Pick, Register and Pay For A Domain Name

This is probably the most important part you can do for your blog. Remember earlier about what you need to blog about? Consider these things:

A ) Make sure it's easy to remember (This is not the time to get cutesy and intentionally misspell something).

B ) Put the subject of your blog in it ( For me I wanted to talk about my financial situation, career tips I learned in the past five years and personal development so I chose myworkmoneylife.com)

C ) Lastly, make sure it's available. If you already have one that you're transferring. That's okay. Just put it in on the right. Siteground will help you out with that.

D ) Make you distinguish between .org, .com, .edu or whatever it is that you want.

5 ) Install Wordpress

If you're a nontechie like me all you have to do is go to the support tab.

Then, scroll down until you see "WordPress Assistance".

6) Pick A Theme

I love Elegant Themes! It's what's called a "drag and drop" builder. There is ZERO code to deal with, it's very mobile friendly (which you really need because more and more people are using it these days! You should definitely click here and choose the Elegant Theme!

7) Make That Money Honey!

There are a thousand and one ways to make money from a blog. In my two years of experience with running my own blog, and studying income reports from the blogs. Here's how it typically goes you make very minimal page views from your blog for the first year so you either maximize what page views you do have via affiliate marketing or use your blog as a platform to offer services like freelance writing. The second year you make full-time income directly from your blog and so forth. Granted these are people that are very intentional about building a blog and creating an income off of it.

Recommended E-courses

Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing: The girl who created this e-course has made well over $50,000 per month with affiliate marketing. What this basically means is that you recommend a product that you absolutely love in a blog post and you get a commission off of that. It's a great way to make passive income with very minimal page views. She's also VERY responsive to emails/questions!

Earn More Writing: This is an excellent source of income! Once you have your blog up and running you can use it as a  platform to get freelance writing clients while your building your blog. Her students have earned (that's me included) anywhere from $55-$350 per blog post! Not too shabby huh?

Wrapping Up

I hope this helps! Blogging can be incredibly fun (not to mention $lucrative$)! If your anything like me you are horrible with technology (but it can be done and I'm living proof of it! Just take a deep breath, go slow and ask questions! I'm available if you need me. Just click on the blue button below on the right-hand side!
