Top 3 Reasons Why You Are Not Successful

Have you ever had one of those moments where you're just like "Is there anything else that can go wrong today?!" or "why am I not successful". If you have believed me I completely understand and have been there (recently) myself. After some serious soul searching, these are the top 3 things that have gotten in the way of me and success.

1. There's No Passion

I have this weird obsession with cleaning out closets. I can get lost in IKEA all day long or clean out a friend's closet for hours. However, if you tell me I need to create a complicated code for a website I'm going to tell you that I have to walk my fish.

So, basically what I'm saying is that we all have our special things that we all like to do. If you don't like to do them but feel some sort of obligation towards what you're trying to accomplish I would recommend that you read my article about signs your in the wrong job. As an HR professional, it's actually kind of scary how positively correlated performance issues are related to these signs.

2. You Have Analysis Paralysis

Sometimes you can want something so bad to the point and are so terrified of screwing it up that you just don't ever act on it. Again, I've been there and just had to think to myself "how can I accomplish this if I never even start it?" Making simple statements like that has actually helped.

3. You're Being a Negative Nancy

There have been times that I have looked at a particular task and think to myself there is no way that this is going to go right. When I have had those thoughts, guess how many times I was right? 100% of those times. It creates a domino effect from your brain to your actions. So, if you want to be more successful then you need to change is the source of the issue. :)

Conclusion

All in all, your brain is a powerful source that needs to constantly be monitored. Take a daily 5-10 minutes each day to really evaluate where your thoughts are coming from. Sometimes that silence, even if it's just for a few minutes can really help you organize your thoughts and create an action plan to your goals. Let me know what tools you've used in the past to help with that. I'd love to hear your thoughts! You never know it may help someone else out!
